In addition to fertilizing the bahia grass fields this past weekend, we also planted a mix of iron and clay cowpeas.
The first step in that is to kill the spring and early summer weeds that will compete with the peas. Using the Fiat I sprayed the fields with a 2.5 percent solution of glyphosate.
As I finished a field, Jeffrey got started planting the cowpeas using the big John Deere and the Grassfarmer seed drill. It was calibrated to plant 35 pounds of seed per acre. In addition to planting the planned fields (south, mid-beaver and south-beaver), there was enough seed to plant the north-beaver and cogongrass fields. The seed label is also shown below.
